The birth of the "Neptune Series" occurred
in Virginia Beach VA in 2005. My wife and I were vacationing there on the Boardwalk and as I searched for interesting
subjects to sketch, I happened upon the construction of this 3 story brass statue that was being erected just up the beach
from our hotel. I spent hours there everyday and captured the preparation to unveil the new statue to the world on the
following weekend. I was so fascinated that I returned home and painted the excitement, anticipation and mystery at
man's creativity and innovation. I had an opportunity to meet the artist to show him my sketches and hear about
his concept and design of this landmark.
